About Us
Letter from the Head
I consider it my great privilege to be Headmistress of St Mary's Worcester, a school that has always led the way in developing an education especially tailored for girls that encourages confidence, curiosity and compassion.
A St Mary's girl is her own person. She is valued for herself and her
opinions are respected. She will attain high academic standards but she
will also enjoy and excel at an exceptional range of extra-curricular
activities from horse riding to golf, from touring with the choir in
Italy to playing Hockey in Barbados! A St Mary's girl will also
display a unique caring spirit for their community and their world.
My vision for St Mary’s going forward is simple. I want to prepare
the girls of today to face the challenges of being the women leaders of
tomorrow – in effect to become a centre of excellence for the education
of women leaders.
In the future when
girls at St Mary’s are ready to leave school I want them to have
acquired better exam passes, been exposed to an extra-ordinary range of
extra-curricular opportunities and developed greater self confidence.
Yes, of course! But I also want them to be better equipped for a life
in which as, never before, they will be developing their careers and
caring for their families.
To this
end, a new leadership programme is being introduced across
the curriculum, to develop within each girl the key attributes of
leadership. When girls leave us we want them to have the necessary
confidence, academic and social accomplishments to pursue a diverse
range of careers, make a difference in their world and, most
importantly, to live a happy and fulfilled life.
In this we are continuing the spirit and vision of our founders who sought to empower and equip young women to use their talents to make a difference in their world.
I take very seriously my responsibility to work in partnership with you to support, encourage and inspire your daughters as they prepare for life in university and beyond.
There is certainly something about St Mary’s and I would be delighted to give you a tour of the school so that you can experience at first hand this very special atmosphere.
