Have you ever looked in a magazine and seen someone like Paris Hilton with all the latest fashion? Cool. But look what they’re holding.

Usually it would be a dog and this is the problem. After seeing stars like Paris Hilton with dogs under their arms, people think that treating animals like this is cool and means that they will be just like their favourite stars.

Because of this Dogs Trust say that too many people are treating their pets like fashion accessories and don't know how to look after them properly.  Dog's Trust also say that there's been a big rise in the number of these kinds of dogs handed into rescue centres because of people realising what a big responsibility looking after a dog is.

As well as being bad for the owners it is also bad for the dogs. Imagine if you had to be carried all day.  It wouldn’t hurt your feet, but you wouldn't be able to do as you wanted. So imagine being a tiny puppy stuffed in a handbag. It’s horrible!

The RSPCA say that a handbag dog is “Born to suffer”.
