Mission, Vision, Ethos & Aims

Our mission

St Mary’s has a Catholic foundation which extends a warm welcome to families of all faiths who share our aims of developing our pupils’ abilities and aptitudes, helping them in their growth towards maturity.

Our mission is to prepare our girls of today to face the challenge of being the women leaders of tomorrow.

Our strategic vision

• St Mary’s promotes high academic achievement; challenging targets are set and staff and students work together to achieve them.

• Expectations are high and all members of the school community are expected and enabled to achieve their very best in all that they do. Great importance is attached to the needs of the individual and St Mary’s prides itself on its ability to maximise the potential of each pupil.

• We acknowledge the uniqueness of each pupil within the school community.

• We maximise the leadership potential of each pupil so that from the moment a girl starts in Reception Class the key qualities of leadership will be nurtured across a range of subjects.

• At all stages dignity is accorded to the learner and the enhancement of self esteem is seen as intrinsic to success.

• The pastoral care at St Mary’s is outstanding and underpins our pupils’ progress and achievement, promoting self confidence and an unselfish concern for others.

• St Mary’s is a confident, self evaluating and self improving school where every opportunity is grasped to enhance the learning of all.

"The quality of pupils' personal development is excellent throughout the school."
