Drop Everything and Read
February 06, 2012
On Tuesday 7th February St Mary's will hold a ‘Drop Everything and Read’ day to emphasise the importance of reading . At some point during every lesson of the day, teachers will be asking the girls to drop everything and read for ten minutes. This will involve everyone in the classroom, including the teacher.
The aim of this day is to encourage the girls to read for pleasure and to foster a lifelong love of reading. Academically, reading is the key to success as it allows young people to access a range of resources and information and to become independent learners and thinkers.
Parents and staff have been encouraged to take part in this day too and we will be taking some photographs throughout the day for a display of the event.
If you would like to add your own photographs of your ‘Drop Everything and Read’ please send to apassalacqua@stmarys.org.uk in the English Department.
