Academic Scholarships
The majority of awards are made at 11+ into the Senior School and at 16+ into the Sixth Form; however awards are also made at 12+, 13+ and 14+.
All academic awards are made on the basis of the results of the scholarship examination which takes place each year early in the spring term. The 11+, 12+, 13+ and 14+ examination will consist of a Verbal Reasoning Test and papers in English and Mathematics. The awards, which are reviewed annually, are made on the understanding that satisfactory progress is made. Scholarships are worth up to a maximum of one-third of the fees.
Music Scholarships
The majority of awards are available at 11+ into the Senior School and at 16+ into the Sixth Form. They are awarded on the basis of performance and musical promise. Open auditions are held early in the spring term. Music Scholarships are worth up to a maximum of one-third of the fees and Music Exhibitions are worth tuition on one instrument financed by the school.
The awards, which are reviewed annually, are made on the understanding that satisfactory progress is maintained and that pupils enter fully into the musical life of the school.
Sports Scholarships
Sports Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a candidate’s performance in sports trials which will be held early in the spring term. A Sports Scholarship is worth up to a maximum of one-third of the fees. The awards, which are reviewed annually, are made on the understanding that satisfactory progress is maintained and that the pupils enter fully into the sporting life of the school.
Sixth Form Scholarships
Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of an examination which consists of an Objective Test and papers in English and one of the candidate’s A level subject choices. In addition, subject specific scholarships may be offered to girls who demonstrate particular talent in one or more subject areas such as art, design, textiles, science etc. and are offered for any subject. Those applying for a subject specific scholarship will need to present a portfolio of work in support of their application in addition to sitting the 16+ papers.
Sports Scholarships and Music Scholarships are also available.

Bicentennial Bursary Fund
In acknowledgement of the Order’s bicentenary year (1807 – 2007) the sisters of St Marie Madeleine Postel have endowed the school with a bursary fund, specifically for girls who require some financial assistance to enable them to benefit from the excellent education on offer at St Mary’s.
