Examination Results

In keeping with tradition and the high expectations of St Mary’s, GCSE and A level results are significantly above the national average. St Mary’s has always sought to offer a first class academic education to girls and outstanding examination results achieved year upon year are testimony to this.

GCSE Results Overall

Examination Results: Summer 2010

We are very proud of our GCSE students who have achieved a wonderful set of GCSE results. 89% of girls gained 5 or more GCSEs (Grades A*-C) with 57% of all grades being A*-A. 33% of girls achieved A*-A in ten or more subjects with one girl also achieving an A grade at AS level in music which she took one year early.

In this, the first year of awarding A* at A-level, we are delighted that St Mary’s girls achieved a 100% pass rate at A*-E and 85% at A*-C. An impressive 15% of grades were at A*- A, with one pupil achieving one A* and three A grades. In a year which has seen such strong competition for places at universities, congratulations must go to all our pupils who have gained a place in their first choice of university.

Summary

The School’s consistent high performance in public examinations reflects the hard work and dedication of the girls towards their studies, and the excellent, individualised teaching offered by the school. Each girl has been enabled to maximise her own potential in an all-girl learning environment whilst at the same time benefiting from the wide-ranging extra curricular and enrichment activities on offer.

The School's results are above those to be expected from the tests given to them on entry.”
