The Sixth Form
Independent, self-motivated young women taking their place in the world
In the Sixth Form, girls readily adapt to greater freedom and responsibility and quickly learn to use their time wisely. They become independent and self-motivated young women. The Sixth Form allows them to prepare for university and adult life in a supported environment. Staff and students enjoy a high level of mutual trust and confidence. The atmosphere is relaxed but never casual.
The Sixth Form is housed on the first floor of the historical old house where girls enjoy a very special environment which lends itself to study and university preparation. Small tutorial rooms create a more adult atmosphere and prepare girls for university tutorials and seminars. As well as use of the Computer Suites, there are first class facilities for private study all with computer access.
From early in Lower Sixth, girls are encouraged to consider their applications for university. Individual attention is given to each girl’s personal statement and references in order to ensure a rapid and positive response. All girls are given appropriate practice for interviews or subject-specific testing and those girls applying to Oxford and Cambridge are given the necessary extra tuition and interview practice.
The school has an excellent record of sending girls to premier universities where they study a wide range of courses that enable them to access a diverse range of careers.
"By the time the girls are in the Sixth Form, they are in every way accomplished and cultivated young people."
